Google gets bard!
Google has launched a website devoted entirely to the Bard that allows users to browse through the full texts of his 37 plays. Readers can even plug in words, such as "to be or not to be" from "Hamlet," and immediately be taken to that part of the play.

Google has 77% of the UK search market
The latest analysis from Hitwise, the leading online competitive intelligence service, reveals that Yahoo!’s share of executed UK searches has grown to be tied with that of MSN. Yahoo! Search and MSN Search each powered just over 7% of UK internet searches in the four weeks to 20/05/06 (combining the UK and .com search properties). Google continues to dominate the sector, recording 77%.

In the US, Yahoo! Search is a stronger competitor. Amongst US internet users, Google.com powered 59% of all searches, compared to Yahoo! Search at 22% in the four weeks to 20/05/06 May 2006.

US’ online advertising revenues grow 38% for the 1st quarter
Online ad revenues in the USA soared to a record £2.1 billion last quarter, according to a report released jointly by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the New Media Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

‘US Online Sales are forecast to increase 20% during 2006, to £114 billion

Google grows its US’ market share for the ninth consecutive month
Google gained market share in the US’ for the ninth consecutive month, according to comScore Networks' qSearch analysis for the month of April, achieving 43.1% of the US’ search market. Yahoo was second with 28%, and MSN third with 12.9%.

UK search marketing industry grows again
The UK market for paid search (also known as ‘pay per click’ marketing) is estimated to be worth £1.26 million by the end of 2006 according to leading online analysts, E-consultancy (www.e-consultancy.com). This figure looks set to rise further, as although up to a quarter of all media consumption is now online, according to the IAB (the internet advertising bureau, www.iabuk.net), online advertising currently only accounts or around 8% of the total advertising spend in the UK.

15% of people searching on a brand do not go to the company’s website

After searchers type in a brand-name query on a search engine, only 85 percent end up at that brand's Web site, while the rest are diverted to competitor's sites, comparison shopping engines and affiliates. That's according to a new study released by Hitwise, which undertook the research after determining that 75 of the most popular 100 searches in February involved trademarked brand names.

Google powers 75% of all UK Searches

In the 4 weeks of April, Google powered by far the most searches with 74.8%, followed by MSN.co.uk with 6.7%, [up to 7.8% if including MSN.com] and Yahoo UK & Ireland with 5.7% [7.5% including Yahoo! Search]. Ask UK was 4th with 5.4% [5.6% including .com]. Together these ‘top four’ were used in 95.7% of searches.

‘US court rules in favour of the use of branded keywords

Microsoft to launch a search engine better than Google’s in six months
"What we're saying is that in six months' time we'll be more relevant in the U.S. market place [and the UK] than Google," said Neil Holloway, Microsoft president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
